This study is an autoethnography on the exploration of identity of art therapist through Greek virginal goddesses. This study examined the original form of virginal goddesses shown in a book ‘Goddesses in Every Woman’ by psychoanalyst Jean Shinoda Bolen, and described the process of exploring the identity through roles and insight as an art therapist. Through the experiences of exploring various characteristics of original forms of virginal goddesses such as Artemis, Athena, and Hestia, and reflecting the original forms into the researcher’s life, this study examined the roles and insight as an art therapist. For the purpose of the study, memory, introspection, dreams, and paintings were collected in chronological order for one year from 2020. An analysis of dreams through personal analysis was conducted while receiving feedback on the research of the art therapy training supervisor. In the results of this study, first, through the virginal goddesses such as Artemis and Athena, the researcher realized that the goal-oriented and rational life as an art therapist could be vulnerable to emotions. From this experience, the researcher realized that it would be possible to get free only when oneself could be looked after by accepting the incompleteness. Second, through the goddess Hestia, the researcher realized that the exploration on the identity as an art therapist should be supported by internal qualifications based on humane maturity. The researcher explored the process of establishing the identity as an art therapist by seeking for the purpose and direction of mature life based on such experiences.
