The purpose of this study is to arouse interest in supervision by analyzing domestic and foreign art therapy supervision research trends and to suggest future research directions. A total of 55 academic journals and doctoral dissertations were selected using domestic and foreign index databases, and theses were included in Korea, USA, UK, Australia, and Israel. Afterwards, they were categorized into basics, supervision research method, supervision operation type, and supervision variable factors and comparatively analyzed. Research Results First, the basic year is related to the timing of nurturing art therapy specialists in educational institutions, and the historical situation such as COVID-19 was also confirmed through the number of papers issued. Second, the supervisory research method stood out from the perspective of supervisor in Korea and the mutual development of supervisor/supervisor overseas. Third, the difference was confirmed by focusing on group structure in Korea and mutual immediacy in foreign countries through the supervisory operation form. At the same time, changes in roles as open and independent supervisors according to art-based art therapy supervision, and the division of supervision according to overseas provision areas are confirmed. Fourth, in the supervision variable factors, the results resulting from domestic and foreign cultural differences are repeatedly confirmed. Through this, this study has significance in confirming the importance of art therapy supervision, which is essential for strengthening the professional competency of art therapists, and providing basic data for the development of art therapy supervision research and suggesting a future direction.
