The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences of art therapists who participated in developing remote art therapy using digital media. For the study, three art therapists participated in individual in-depth online interviews who experienced remote art therapy program for the first time at the Culture and Arts Healing Project hosted by the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service’ in 2020. The collected data were analyzed in Giorgi’s phenomenological method. As a result, five themes and 14 sub-themes were derived. The elements that compose art therapists’ experience with remote art therapy are 'Felt difficulties in building teamwork with co-therapists in the early stage of the program’, ‘Felt anxious and pressured about the unfamiliar structure of the remote setting in therapy’, ‘Found the therapeutic factors at the remote art therapy structure’, ‘Ran the program with flexibility to adjust the client’s situation’, ‘Realized the competence required for remote art therapy’. This study provides vivid experiences of art therapists who participated in developing remote art therapy program. Therefore, this study will serve as the basic materials to help understand the various aspects of remote art therapy.
